The latest Briddarri warship came hot off the assembly line, and it looks good. It is a dreadnought that dwarfs the standard Briddarri ship of line. I mean dwarfs it! It also generated some good discussion about shading for the ship design GUI. Shading of models within the Takamo Universe environment has been a hot topic for several months. How ships, starfighters, and space structures look in the game environment is important. We are striving for a brooding yet hopeful feel for the galaxy. We want to bring out the sad nobility of the past and the gritty struggle of the present as empires move into the future with hopeful hearts and a sense of foreboding.
To create this feel for the game, it has to have a detailed and “colorful” background. That means extensive empire and personal histories. There must be a past to light the way to the future. Part of that history is the actual and political geography of the Five Galaxies.
This week we laid out the main galaxy, which is named Estra or Naplia, depending on which end of the political spectrum you sit. Humans and their allies call it Estra. Naplians call it, well, Naplia. (Bunch of egotistical jerks!) Estra is the largest and most central galaxy in the local cluster that is the Five Galaxies. The other four galaxies are within one hundred kilo-parsecs (kps) of Estra. They are Deltar, Fadren, Baxel and Celsus.
Estra has been laid out as well as Deltar and Fadren. Estra has a diameter of 30,000 parsecs. It is a spiral galaxy with a main plane that is 1000 parsecs deep. Deltar and Fadren are globular clusters, each having a diameter of 5,000 parsecs.

The main empires of of Estra during the time of the Naplian and Cyber wars numbered in the hundreds. The remnants of those empires are strewn throughout the galaxy that now exists in 4601. This is the backdrop that is being prepared.
What does this mean for players?
It means that players are going to be interacting with lost civilizations, other empires, derelict ships, black holes, Cyber and Naplian invasions, ancient libraries, and every archaeological movie trope we can find. There will be exploration, puzzles, war, trading, alliances, backstabbing, and the list goes on. All of this is going to be possible because of the background and the stories that are being developed for Takamo Universe.
