The Stellar Cloud: Mechs and Other Special Ground Units – 09/11/2014

Last week we asked the question, “What are the ground units like in Takamo Universe?” We said that the number and types of units will be expanded in the new game to include various types of sub units that can be formed into larger formations. Players can build sub units to join together to create new Military Unit formations.

This week we will expand the discussion to include specialty units. There are many types and for the moment, three general categories.

Detachment: A Detachment is an independent Unit. It can operate on its own or it can be joined to an eligible military unit. Examples of detachments are Mercenaries and smaller Mechs.

Squad: This is a very small and specialized unit built for special missions. Examples of these units are Advisor, Covert Operation, Assassination, and Reconnaissance.

Spearhead: This is a large, division sized unit that cannot be merged into a standard Military Unit group. Its purpose is to overrun enemy positions and exploit any break through. Metatanks, and Heavy Mechs are examples of Spearhead units.

So what does this mean for players?
In Takamo Universe, many of the units available, whether developed through research or obtained by other means, will have very specialized skills that can be deployed for the benefit of the empire. Those skill sets can be enhanced through research, training, and experience. Military Units in the new game are of greater value as they are used and trained, making them more than simple cannon fodder to fling at the enemy.

The DEEMA power core of the S22 was a classified Svenisch design that the Grand Alliance was never able to master or reverse engineer. Digital footage and a few technical sheets are the only remaining evidence of these deadly infantry support machines. It has been more than a thousand years since anyone has come across a functional or even a wrecked S22…
