The Stellar Cloud: SHIPYARDS ARE BUSY! – 2/05/2015

We have been slaving away this week on ships. Building classes of everything from Explorers to Missile Battlecruisers. Hospital Ships, Drop Ships and Fuel Tankers are some of the new classes that will be in Takamo Universe. New orbital installations are also in the offing.

All of the ship classes are being fitted out to hold the many items of equipment that will be available for players to design into their ships. Many will have space for cargo. Others will have room for troops or passengers. The warships will have little room for anything other than guns and war making equipment. Explorers and scouts will carry huge sensor arrays for deep space exploration and carriers will have cavernous fighter hangars.

Each ship is fitted with armor and hull plating that determine the hit point damage the vessel can sustain before breaking up. Hit points are also assigned to the internal equipment. A sensor array will suffer a reduction in hit points if damaged but may still continue to operate. Orbital shipyards and dock ships will handle repairs, retooling and refit of damaged and aging starships.

What does this mean for Takamo Universe players?

Ship design is an important aspect of the new game. It is something that many players will enjoy, but it is not a prerequisite for play. Many standard ship designs are currently being developed by our team so players who want to avoid the micromanaging ship construction can build pre-designed starships for their stellar navy.

So, if you a “detail” person, you will love the ship design graphic interfaces and if you are a “big picture” emperor, you can Issue build orders and sit back and watch the show.
