The Stellar Cloud: Missile Ships and Stealth Technology – 10/23/2014

Missiles ships. They are a familiar sight in the original Takamo: wild hell-bent-for-leather raids where missile-armed raiders of five ships or less swoop into planetary orbit, launch their missiles and scramble to get out alive. These will most certainly continue to be a feature of Takamo Universe. However, there is an even more insidious threat. Stealth ships packed with interplanetary ballistic missiles (IPBMs). Missiles that are equipped with micro-jump motors. Missiles that can be launched from massive ships in the depths of space.

Imagine a ship loaded with stealth technology and a score of missile silos moving unnoticed through system space like a nuclear sub under pack ice. Killing it isn’t too difficult IF you can find it. Finding it requires constant vigilance and the right scanning equipment.

The Nova class was a standard “Boomer” in the Terran star fleet. Novas of various configurations saw service for nearly 600 years.

What does this mean for players in Takamo Universe?

Empires will have an offensive strike package that is stealth enabled. This will permit stellar squadrons to launch missile strikes from system space without the risk of a full-on missile run into the orbit of the target planet. Empires will also be faced with the need to patrol system space with destroyer class vessels capable of detecting enemy stealth ships.

Takamo Universe just became a more dangerous place…
