Marine Unit Invasion – If I am invading a size 6 world with 5000+ MUs on it can I send 2400 MUs at once or do I have to send them in waves of 600 (as player empires can only have 100*planetary size MUs on a planet)?

ok. Starting Friday there will be the first part to a several part short fiction story based on a Takamo action. Hopefully this will start a series of short stories based on different Takamo actions. Keep an eye out on this thread Friday (or sooner)

There should be a new piece in the next Suspence and Descision. I’m also working on a piece of short fiction hopefully to be ready in a month or two. Special thanks to CHARON EMPIRE for proofreading and inspiration.

Not wanting to start a new topic I thought I’d add what I’d like to see in Takamo Universe, as well as Takamo.
Corruption/expansion penalties. Say a reduction of income from each planet 2% * # of sectors from homeworld. This would encourage players to carve out their own fiefdoms and invest in developing the worlds around them rather than cherry picking worlds within their alliances’ sphere of influence. This would be a lot more “realistic” if I can use that word in a science fiction game.
Starting position of one world or at maximum one system. I understand a “quick start” was needed to get new players and developers used to the Takamo Universe so we started with three terraformed worlds and a bunch of colonies. But, if we are a scattering of mankind (and others) surviving cybernetic extinction and it does not make much sense to be scattered across a sector with vulnerable supply lines.
Also I think just about every science fiction show/book shows that mankind will not exist with another race in the same home system. At some point in time before the development of interstellar flight one planet will enslave or eliminate all other sentinant life within their home system. It would make sense for intial player starts to be a Homeworld and colonies within the system, rather than NPC worlds within the system- This reply was modified 11 years, 5 months ago by .

Amazing how many of us old(er) Baxel players have come back. I’m at james_mackinlay@hotmail.com although not as rich a miner as i used to be:-(

Some advise from another miner. Don’t build a trade fleet (or at least not in the short to medium term). Use your tramp miners and mine planets and especially asteroid belts for cash. Asteroids will generate 10*MP ore units per turn(safely). Planets will generate 1*MP (safely). Your terraformed worlds will buy 80 Ore units per turn. So colonize all high MP worlds (10 or better) and asteroid belts and mine those on a regular basis. Once your tech level gets a lot better your trade ships will get bigger cargo capacitys, shields etc and it becomes more reasonable to develop a trade fleet as you will have a larger selection and better worlds to trade with. Use your actions exploring and colonizing.

I’ve played Astro Empires a couple of times. Great in the short term especially as soon as a universe opens up. Just becomes a number crunching game after that calculating the profit/loss of derb fields. Endless Space is a good one to try (though not a MMO game) It is based on the Masters of Orion 2 model. Hopefully Takamo Universe will pick up the best parts of Endless Space especially in the data representation of the different planets/systems.

“Genetically compatible females were also found and transplanted to this planet.” I’m envisioning Sub Commander T’Pol so if that is the case sign me up to be abducted. If they don’t look like T’Pol you’ll have to supply photos so I can make a decision on whether I want to be abducted or not.

Action code 25 Merge Your Own Fleets prompts for location#1 with the green button though the rulebook does not?

Cool. That makes a lot more sense and at least I can plan a turn. Any idea why on turn 2 both fleets would have collected zero ore units though as that does not fit into the model above? Also any chance of getting the documentation changed as that still states that strip mining is dependant on the number of ships tramp mining, whereas 2 ships (20 cargo capacity) can handle the ore safely gathered from any known world(barring asteroids). I think the cap of 80 units sold per terraformed world per turn was nerf enough but maybe that’s just me defending miners:-)
